Time is a strange this isn’t it? Time is defined by a continuous period measured by clocks and calendars. To physicists, time is defined by quantum mechanics. To each one of us time is a precious thing. For me time keeps order. Without time everyone would just do what they want when they want. How would business function? I don’t know if it’s a compulsion I have, or the way I was brought up, but time to me is a very sensitive issue. I feel violated when others don’t respect a sense of time. In the past this has brought up many issues for me between freinds. Please don’t misunderstand me, I don’t feel I’m completely unsympathetic. I absolutely understand that in certain situations things happen out of out control and its not always possible to keep time. It’s the instances where people have no disregard for others in their lack of keeping time. I feel its extremely rude and selfish when people are constantly late. I feel it show very little respect for others when someone is late. I would never set a time I knew I couldn’t honor, and don’t understand why others constantly do. I do see how my ridged sense of timeliness can seem selfish. But I take personal offence when people show little disregard for the fact that we’ve made specific plans and I’m respectful enough to be ready at the said time and they are not. Don’t get me wrong, there has been plenty of instances where I’m not ready when I should be, but I do what I can to avoid this.  And thats all i expect in return.  I’d love to sit back and do things at my leisure, but when someone is expecting me I feel it is extremely selfish of me to just show up at my own convince. I don’t like my time wasted and thus try not to do it to others. The thing about time is once its gone, you can never get it back. Yes, it would be self centered of me to expect others to know and be ready at the moment I am, but isn’t that why we set a time, together? So we know when we are expected to be ready? Without keeping time the world would be in a state of chaos. And thus when someone squanders what I consider to be my own precious time I become in a state of chaos. I do not enjoy the feeling of being late and having to rush. I do not like other’s having to wait for me, therefore I do not appreciate when others force me to be on their time when it should have been our time.
